The covid 19 pandemic has hit the global economy hard. But the government has not decided to look at this crisis helplessly. The government is trying to overcome the obstacles and bring in new projects and investments.

As part of this, government approvals were issued to 2547 Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Keswift (Kerala Single Window Interface for Fast and Transparent Clearances) single window system designed to make the state more entrepreneurial friendly. Keswift also authorizes 361 services outside of MSME. The investment in the state is `717.80 crore. Judgment has been issued on 2378 applications till July 22, 2020.

Entrepreneurs are required to submit investment proposals in a public application form to Keswift, which was formed as part of the Ease of Doing Business reform measures. Delays can be avoided as K-Swift has all the facilities like submission of documents related to the venture, online payment, status of the application and final clearance.

Keswift has been revamped to give immediate approval to project proposals with an investment of up to Rs 10 crore. K-Swift can currently contact up to 15 government departments and agencies for start-ups. These include KSEB, Electrical Inspectorate, Labor, Water Authority, Pollution Control Board, Fire Safety, Mining and Geology, State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Factories and Boilers.

A system has also been set up to connect the Forest Department, Ground Water Department, Panchayat Directorate, Urban Affairs Department and Chief Town Planning, which do not currently have online facilities. The next phase of Keswift will include health, agriculture, revenue, the National Food Safety Authority (FSSAI) and the Coast Guard Management Authority (CESMA). This will make the process easier and minimize formal interventions.
